What free towing means here
Plenty of buyers quote a number and then take a “towing fee” out of it when the truck shows up. We don’t. Towing is part of how we buy cars, so the price we agree with you is the price you’re paid when the car leaves.
That matters most for cars that can’t move under their own power. A dead car in a Chicago Lawn alley or a pickup that hasn’t started since last winter costs money to move if you hire a tow yourself. Selling it to a buyer who includes the tow removes that step.
Pickup, start to finish
- You call or send the form. Year, make, model, condition and where the car sits. A photo helps if you can text one.
- We give you an offer. If it works for you, we set a pickup time. Same-day pickup is often possible, depending on where the car is and what time you reach us.
- The driver checks the car. The car should match what you described. Have your title or whatever papers you have ready (see selling without a title).
- You get paid and the car is loaded. Payment happens at pickup, by cash, Zelle or Cash App, your choice.
We’re available 24 hours, every day, so you can call when it suits you, including evenings and weekends.
Spots on the Southwest Side we tow from
The Southwest Side is mostly bungalows, two-flats and brick apartment buildings, which means a lot of cars sit in alley garages, on concrete pads behind the house or in shared lots. Those spots are fine. What helps the driver:
- A clear path. Move bins, bikes and the second car if they block the garage door or the alley approach.
- Garage cars. Tell us if the car is nose-in, how much room is on each side and whether the door opens fully.
- Street cars. Note the block and which side of the street. If the car is in a spot with posted restrictions, say so, because it affects timing.
- Lots. Get permission from the owner or manager first. We tow from repair shops too, once the shop knows to release the car.
Our guide to alley, garage and backyard pickups covers the tight spots in more detail. If the car is sitting on your property and someone has already complained, the private property guide explains what Chicago’s rules say.
Areas we tow from
Ashburn sits in the middle of our service area, so pickups in Ashburn, Chicago Lawn and Oak Lawn are short trips. We also cover the rest of the Southwest Side community areas and the nearby suburbs west and south of them. The full list, with notes on each place, is on our service areas page.
Prep for pickup day
- Take out personal things: the glove box, the trunk, under the seats, garage door openers and toll transponders.
- Take the license plates off before the car goes. Our stickers and plates guide covers what to do with them next.
- Find the title, or gather what you have if it’s missing.
- Keep your phone on so the driver can reach you when they’re close.

Questions people ask
Do I have to be there when the tow truck comes?
Usually yes, because you're the one being paid and the papers have to be handed over. If you can't be there, tell us on the call. We'll work out who can meet the driver and what they need to bring before we set a pickup time.
Flat tires or missing wheels: can it still be towed?
Tell us the car's condition when you call: flat tires, missing wheels, a locked steering wheel or no keys. Those details change how the driver loads it, so we ask up front and send the right setup instead of finding out at the curb.
Do you tow from apartment and condo lots?
Yes, when you've arranged access. A building manager or association may want to know a tow truck is coming, and some lots have gates or height limits. Sort that out first, then tell us where the car sits in the lot.
