Selling and getting paid
How does Masters Cash for Junk Cars decide what to pay?
We price each car on its details: year, make and model, what condition it's in, what's missing (the catalytic converter, wheels or major parts) and whether it rolls. That's why we ask questions on the call instead of posting a price list.
When does the money change hands, and how?
At pickup, when we collect the car. You choose cash, Zelle or Cash App. The amount is the offer we agreed, provided the car matches what you described on the call.
Could the number drop once the driver sees the car?
Only if the car isn't what was described, for example if the catalytic converter is gone or the car was in a crash you didn't mention. Describe the car honestly and the number stays the same.
Do you buy cars that run fine?
Our trade is junk, wrecked, scrap and non-running vehicles. A healthy running car is usually worth more sold privately or traded in, and we'll tell you so.
Pickup and towing
Is towing really free?
Yes. There's no towing charge, and nothing is taken off your offer for the tow.
Do I need to bring the car somewhere?
No, there's nowhere to bring it. We come to you in our tow truck and load the car where it's sitting, whether it runs or not.
How quickly can our tow truck get here?
Same-day pickup is often possible. It depends on where the car is and when you reach us. We're available 24 hours, every day, so you can call when it suits you.
Can you take a car from an alley garage or a backyard?
Usually, yes. Tell us how the car sits, how wide the opening is and whether anything blocks the path. Our alley and garage pickup guide covers the details that help.
What do I clear out of the car before it goes?
Everything you want to keep: papers in the glove box, things in the trunk and under the seats, garage door openers, toll transponders and child seats. Take the license plates off too.
Titles and papers
The title is lost. Now what?
Tell us what papers you have, like a registration card, a bill of sale or an insurance card. Illinois rules decide which papers work for a scrap sale, and we confirm on the call where your car stands.
Can I sell a car that's in someone else's name?
Only with the authority to sell it. That might be a signed title from the owner or, if the owner has died, the paperwork that lets a family member act for the estate. Our guides on titles and on selling a late relative's car explain the routes.
