How we work

We don't run a yard or a parts counter, and there's nowhere to drop a car off. The business is the phone, the form on this site and our tow truck, which drives out to the car and loads it wherever it sits. That's deliberate: most junk cars don't move, and the hardest part of getting rid of one is usually getting it out of an alley garage, a side yard or a spot on the street that's started to draw notices.

We're a business registered in the State of Illinois.

The phones are answered 24 hours, every day. When you call, we ask what the car is, what's wrong with it, where it sits and what papers you have. You get an offer on that call or a call back. If you take it, we set a pickup time; same-day is often possible.

Things we won't do

• Charge for the tow. Towing is free, and it never comes off the offer.
• Promise a title shortcut. State rules set which papers can be used to scrap a car in Illinois, and we tell you on the call where yours stands, and our Illinois title guide explains why.
• Buy a car you'd do better selling yourself. If your car runs well, we'll say so.
• Post a price list. Junk cars vary too much for one. Our guide on why offers differ explains what goes into the number.

Where we work

Inside Chicago we cover the Southwest Side community areas around Midway Airport and Marquette Park. Outside it, we cover the suburbs along the city's southwest edge, with Ashburn in the middle of it all. The service areas page lists every place with local notes.
